I'm writing as a member of the Open Plans team and also as your Upper Manhattan neighbor. Join me tonight at Community Board 9 to speak in support trash containerization in NYC!
The trash containerization pilot recently rolled out in Upper Manhattan replaces a handful of free car parking spaces that benefit a few people with covered trash receptacles that serve the entire neighborhood, keeping the sidewalks clear and the rats away.
Cities across the world have integrated effective trash containerization systems into their streetscape, and it's time NYC joined them. The Upper Manhattan pilot is the way we get there.
I hope you can join me tonight to speak in favor of this important step in NYC's evolution toward becoming a more livable city.
