Working to Reclaim Public Space for the Public Good on the UWS

What's Your Streetopian Vision for the UWS?

Here's one 7-year-old’s Streetopian Vision for a livable UWS, including double wide bi-directional bike lanes, a gondola, food stalls, ample places to sit, trees, flowers, and a concert stage 🎸 (Image courtesy of an anonymous junior livable streets activist)

Our mission here at StreetopiaUWS is to reclaim public space for the public good. (It says so right there under our logo 👆)

To us, that means fewer cars and trucks in our neighborhoods, more space for people to come together and find connection, more options for people of all ages and abilities to get around safely and comfortably.

To close out the year, we’d like to hear what our mission statement means to you.

In other words, we want your Streetopian Ideas—transformations to public space that would improve how you, your friends and family, and your neighbors experience their community.

Maybe you have an idea so practical and obvious it’s a wonder it hasn’t already happened. Or maybe you have something novel and visionary in mind. Whatever your transformative idea—big or small—we want to hear it!

Click the link below and let us know what an UWS Streetopia looks like to you. We’ll share some of the responses in a future blog post and newsletter.

Share Your Streetopian Idea Here!

As always, thanks for reading and for believing a more livable UWS is possible. We're excited for the work ahead and eager to share more opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference in 2024.

Have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year! 🕯✨🎊
