Open Plans: Transforming the streets of NYC to be truly livable

[browser link available in email]

Dear [first-name],

If you're a New Yorker, I don't need to tell you: it's nice outside. One of the greatest pleasures of city life comes when the weather gets consistently nice and everyone starts seeking out that perfect bench, boulder, tree stump or free stair to take in all the good city vibes. Here at Open Plans, we're on a mission to create more of those spaces for you, so that everyone is able to find a slice of space to enjoy the great outdoors with their fellow New Yorkers. We're supporting Open Streets at the community and City level, advocating for public space at intersections, pushing for extended Summer Street hours, and helping create a public realm with less congested and chaotic streets so that we're all welcome to use them.

This week we're celebrating the big burst of outdoor activity coming your way these next few weeks. Check out all the great ways to get outside below. See you out there!

OPINION

Cut the red tape on NYC public space

Our public space policies are overly complex & force everyday NYers to take on too much responsibility. Open Plans' Jackson Chabot joined fellow members of the Alliance for Public Space Leadership in City Limits to urge simple permitting & liability changes to help NYers easily enjoy the space outside their doors.
