Open Plans: Transforming the streets of NYC to be truly livable

It’s that time of year again - Community Board applications are open! If you’re interested in getting involved in your neighborhood and making real change for your neighbors, consider applying to be a Community Board member. These local advisory boards give you the chance to hear directly from city agencies, weigh in on local initiatives and advocate for your community. And unless you live in Staten Island where you can apply year-round, the deadline for you to apply is fast approaching.

  • Brooklyn - applications open until February 6, 2026
  • Bronx - applications open until March 9, 2026
  • Manhattan - applications open until February 27, 2026
  • Queens - applications open until February 13, 2026
  • Staten Island - applications accepted year-round

Ready to apply to your Community Board? Connect with us at cb@openplans.org or reply to this email for 1:1 application support and guidance! You are also invited to join our upcoming webinar (with CIVITAS) this Thursday, January 29 at 12:30 to learn more about CBs and the application process!

Come network with current and prospective board members at our upcoming CB social hours in Brooklyn and Queens!
