Urge NYC DOT to Prioritize Safety & Accessibility at T-Intersections

Join us in urging NYC DOT to prioritize people over vehicles by advocating for a comprehensive ban on parking at all T-intersections.

Support the proposed amendment and ensure drivers cannot park at any T-intersection, making NYC streets safer for all

The NYC DOT currently allows parking in front of pedestrian ramps at certain intersections, preventing people from safely crossing the street like above. The proposed amendment would prohibit drivers from parking at T-intersections with a crosswalk and a pedestrian ramp. However, under the proposed rule change, drivers would still be allow to park at T-intersections with no pedestrian ramp. We wholeheartedly believe that the rule should prohibit drivers from parking at any T-intersection regardless of whether or not there is a pedestrian ramp or crosswalk.

Right now, many streets and sidewalks across New York City prioritize drivers over people walking, biking, and using mobility devices such as wheelchairs. This is both a design and policy choice. Now, you have the ability to positively shape NYC policy by submitting written testimony or testifying live on September 5th. No New York City policy should prioritize vehicles over people.
