In 2023, the City Council made it illegal for businesses to use curbside space for dining from December to April. Since then, participation has plummeted by 90%.

Why This Matters:

• Businesses are suffering: They don’t have the resources to set up and break down dining structures twice a year
• New Yorkers are missing out: No more enjoying curbside coffee or meals during warmer days in fall, winter, and spring
• Better use of curb space: Parked cars sit idle 94% of the time, while dining spaces serve many more New Yorkers
